What Is filter cleaning & service?

Filter cleaning and service covers the routine deep-cleaning and upkeep of the pool's filter, whatever type it is. For cartridge filters that means removing and hosing or chemically soaking the elements; for DE filters, backwashing and recharging the grids with fresh diatomaceous earth; for sand filters, backwashing and periodically changing the media. It also includes inspecting O-rings, tank clamps, and pressure gauges so the system runs sealed and at the right pressure.

Why Is filter cleaning & service Important?

A clogged or worn filter is one of the most common reasons a pool stays cloudy no matter how good the chemistry is. A dirty filter also makes the pump work harder, which wastes electricity and shortens pump life. Cleaning it on the right schedule keeps the water clear, keeps energy costs down, and catches torn cartridges or grids before they let debris straight back into the pool.

When Should You Consider filter cleaning & service?

Clean or service the filter when the pressure gauge reads 8–10 psi above its clean baseline, when the water stays hazy with good chemistry, when flow at the returns is weak, or on the regular interval your filter type calls for. Cartridges and DE grids also wear out and should be replaced every few years.
